Aaron Lewis, Billy Bob’s, Fort Worth

FORT WORTH – Billy Bob’s is a place you can watch bull riding, shoot pool, and experience
the best of Texas at the world’s largest honky tonk. You can even see some of the top names
in country music perform in concert everyone from Lee Bice to Aaron Lewis. Wait, what?
Aaron Lewis, the front man of the megapopular rock band Staind? Yep, that’s right! Aaron
Lewis has gone country as a solo artist.

In what appeared to be a sold out crowd at Billy Bob’s Texas Saturday evening, Aaron hit theDSC_3622-Edit
stage in casual country style with beers held high from the crowd.  The show opened with a request from Lewis to remove your hat for the pledge of allegiance.  Aaron, wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans, playing a vintage worn guitar launched into his 2011 release “Country Boy”.

In true Billy Bob’s style. It’s mostly a sitting crowd with lots of hell yeah’s and beer bottle raising.  Half the crowd seemed to be the Staind fan base but there was a large group of younger country fans on hand as well.  Lewis did not disappoint either crowd as he sang a mix of old and new songs.

DSC_3572-EditLewis’ transition to country happened in 2011 with his EP “Town Line”.  Judging by fan reaction, his crossover seems to be going very well. It’s definitely not rockabilly or pop country but true country music.  He still performs his best known hits from the past like “So Far Away” and “It’s Been a While”, but in a countryfied version that delights both rock and country fans.  Lewis proved that he is a true artist regardless of musical genre with his incredible vocals and passion. He is cool country and very patriotic, supporting veterans and the American way.  Catch Lewis touring across the US this spring and summer.
