X Games Austin 2016 Reveals First Wave of Invited Athletes

X Games revealed the first wave of invited athletes today on XGames.com.  The event returns to Austin, Texas, for its third and final year at the Circuit of The Americas from June 2- 5, 2016.  In addition to world-class competition, this year’s musical performances will feature blink-182, G-Eazy, All Time Low and Logic, who will take center stage at the Austin360 Amphitheater. X Games Austin 2016 will also feature the return of BMX Street, Moto X Best Trick, Moto X Freestyle and Women’s Skateboard Park competition.

General admission tickets start at $29 with VIP, one-day and three-day experiences, and music options offered.  All tickets will also include access to festival villages, offering entertainment and interactive activities for the whole family, including skate and BMX interactive parks, athlete autograph sessions, sports games, gaming, music, food and retail offerings and more. ESPN and ABC will televise a combined 20 hours of live X Games Austin competition, which will also be accessible via WatchESPN and WatchABC to viewers who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.  Additional coverage of sports and music will be carried on ESPN3 as well as the latest coverage across ESPN digital platforms, including XGames.com, the X Games app, and X Games pages across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and more. Following X Games Austin, ABC will deliver four hours of anthology programming on Saturday, June 11.

The first wave of X Games Austin 2016 invited athletes includes:

  • Nyjah Huston (Davis, California) – Winner of the past six X Games Skateboard Street competitions in which he has competed, Huston recently won gold at the inaugural X Games Oslo event. Huston will attempt to complete a five-peat at X Games Austin 2016.
  • Morgan Wade (Tyler, Texas) – A seven-time X Games medalist, Wade won gold in Big Air Doubles and silver in BMX Big Air at X Games Austin 2015. Wade also owns the X Games record for highest air on the quarterpipe at 23 feet three inches.
  • Curren Caples (Ventura, California) – The defending X Games Austin Skateboard Park gold medalist, Caples is a three-time X Games medalist.  Currently working on more technical street skills, Caples also placed fifth in Skateboard Street at X Games Oslo.
  • Ronnie Renner (Tampa, Florida) – The most decorated Moto X Step Up athlete, Renner also holds the height record of 47 feet and took home gold in the Step Up discipline at all four 2013 stops. Renner also recently claimed the first X Games Real Moto gold medal.
  • Kyle Baldock (Gold Coast, Australia) – The first BMX rider to win two gold in the same X Games event since 2006, Baldock is also the only athlete to win BMX Dirt since the event returned to the X Games lineup. A four-time X Games medalist, all of Baldock’s medals are gold.
  • Garrett Reynolds (Toms River, New Jersey) – An eight-time X Games medalist, Reynolds has won seven of the eight BMX Street competitions at X Games.  The defending gold medalist, Reynolds is also responsible for some of the most progressive video parts in BMX.
  • Tom Schaar (Cardiff, California) – A five-time X Games medalist by the age of 15, Schaar won double bronze at X Games Austin 2015, in Big Air Doubles and Skateboard Big Air. A versatile skateboarder, Schaar has competed in Big Air, Vert and Park at X Games.
  • Pamela Rosa (Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil) – Just 16 years old, Rosa won her first X Games gold medal at the recent X Games Oslo Women’s Skateboard Street event. Rosa won back-to-back X Games Austin silver medals prior to winning gold in Oslo.
  • Tom Pages (Biarritz, France) – The defending X Games Moto X QuarterPipe gold medalist, Pages has competed in Freestyle, Best Whip, QuarterPipe and Best Trick at X Games. A perennial podium contender, Pages finished second in the overall Red Bull X-Fighters 2015 series.
