Jeremy Loops at Stubb’s Austin – June 11, 2015

AUSTIN – This city stopped raining, but it keeps on raining music. Last night was Jeremy Loops with Tahoma and Charlie Brand. It seemed like the artists’ sets were meant to be together.  Started nice and slow with Tahoma then a more up beat string work played well by Charlie Brand. Leading up to Jeremy Loops to break the sweat.

Jeremy Loops is not a complete stranger to Austin.  He made his US debut this past spring at SXSW cultivating large crowds in America. This phenomenal musician from South Africa plays the harmonica like a champ and can totally work any type of crowd. Stubb’s was packed last night and people were having a blast. Jeremy’s entrance started with a good friend of his, Ben Brown, vlogging the hyped crowd for that night. The singer then made his way to the stage while playing the harmonica and fist bumping the entire audience he could reach. I can assure you, nobody was standing still for the whole setlist. I was surprised there weren’t any “crowd surfing” involved, but probably not a good idea. Jeremy Loops is the definition of fun in live music. The crowd wasn’t ready to let him off the stage just yet and chanted, “one more song, one more song!” He replied with a funny remark, “we couldn’t do the exit the stage thing and pretend like we don’t want to come back –we’re not there yet.”

Of course, two more songs were reserved and one of them was Skinny BluesIf you think he ended the show with a mellow song, you thought wrong. You better catch him live and find out for yourself… I promise you, it’s a big treat!
