Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 40-ish years, you’ve probably heard of Aerosmith and know a song or two.  Without a doubt, Steven Tyler and Aerosmith are icons in the rock world.  And their show at the Choctaw Grand Theater in Durant, Oklahoma Saturday had something for all ages

One of the fascinating things aboDSC_6922-Edit-Editut Aerosmith is how their music has changed over the years and been the perfect accompaniment to that particular time and generation.  Songs like “Dream On”, “Sweet Emotion” and “Toys in the Attic” from their early years have been lasting musical memories that still continue to be heard even four decades later.  For the somewhat younger audience, Aerosmith’s hits from the late 1980s and early 1990s added a whole new generation to their fan base.  While fans hadn’t heard a lot from Aerosmith during the 80s, they stepped right back into the limelight with their collaboration with Run DMC and showed they weren’t just the old rockers your parents listened to back in the day.  Immediately after, fans were treated to the new Aerosmith hits like “Love in an Elevator” and “Livin on the Edge” that topped the charts.  A few years later the blockbuster hit movie “Armageddon” featuring Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” brought the band back to the top of the charts and introduced them to an all new audience.  The past few years has seen Tyler as a judge on American Idol, exposing him to the youngsters of the American Idol demographic. We’ll likely be seeing more of Tyler as a solo country artist in the coming years.  He’s conquered the world of rock and roll, so why not venture into an entirely new genre?

The venue at the Choctaw Casino was a fairly intimate venue, seating about 3,000 people.  And every seat was filled at this sold out show, the inaugural event for the Choctaw Grand Theater.  Not that anyone was in their seat the entire show though as fans were on their feet, singing along and enjoying the show.  With such an intimate venue, it was more about the music without the theatrics of a stadium show but no one left disappointed.  The set list included so many hits from each phase of their career and made for a great show.  Be sure to check out Aerosmith’s other tour dates at http://www.aerosmith.com/tour.
