CHICAGO II AND THE WORLDS LONGEST ENCORE

 

SUGARLAND, TX (March 31, 2018) – As the lights came up, a voice came on announcing that Chicago will be playing their Chicago II album in its entirety while filming for PBS.  Being the last stop of their 9-month sellout tour this year, the fans in Sugarland, Texas did not disappoint. A roar of cheers echoed throughout Smart Financial Centre as it would be one heck of a show.

Returning to their roots Lee Loughnane on trumpet, James Pankow on trombone, with the singer and keyboardist Robert Lamm founding members left nothing on the floor as they made their way through their platinum double sided album. Started off by playing the hits that brought them to this level for decades. Ray Herrmann captivated on the saxophone and alto sax. Keyboardist Lou Pardini also took the lead singing as the band ripped through the album in a wondrous stage performance.

About midway of the show and after the last song, the lights came on and just as people were ready to file out, the announcer once again came on. Up next, after a 20 min break Chicago will play their greatest hits album in its entirety, he said.  The crowd gasped then cheered with excitement. The worlds longest Encore. With almost a century of touring, it was a shock of how much energy the band still has. As adoring fans lined the stage and danced in the isles, the crowd singing along to every song “If You Leave Me Now”, “Only You”, “You’re the Inspiration”. Lighters were replaced with phone flashlights looking like stars filling the audience. The legendary Rock & Roll band with horns then broke out the ballad “Hard To Say I’m Sorry” to the joy of many.
