Fifth-Annual Big Texas Beer Fest set for April 1&2
Dallas, TX – March 20, 2016 – The Big Texas Beer Fest returns to Dallas’ Fair Park on April 1 AND 2 after four highly successful events. The event was founded in 2012, and has raised almost $40,000 for the North Texas Food Bank since inception. Named as Dallas Observer’s best beer festival two years in a row, and Blitz Weekly’s best festival, this year’s event expects to draw over 10,000 attendees across 2 days. The event will continue in the Fair Park Automobile Building. This year’s event intends to attract a Texas record 140 breweries, believed to be the most of any Texas beer festival, including 55+ from the state of Texas.
This year’s festival is believed to be the first 2-day beer festival in North Texas. One of the festival organizers, Chad Montgomery, co-founder of the festival added, “we try to do something new every year; last year we received hundreds of emails and social media requests to add more tickets. We try to keep the quality of the event high, so adding another day seemed more logical than packing the building with more people than would be comfortable.” The event has sold out every year in advance, for 3 years running.
The success from the first four years has helped garnered national attention from various publications, and continues to draw in more people from out of state. Montgomery says, “we have people from 4 different countries, and over 30 states attending this year’s event.” Chad’s wife and event co-founder Nellie added, “My favorite thing about our event is making connections. When we see breweries like Rahr and Lakewood collaborate, or our sampling vendor Noble Coyote’s coffee used in a locally-made beer, that’s really exciting for us.”
In addition to award-winning beers from all over the world, the festival will also feature 10 local food trucks, samples of artisan food and beverages from local vendors such as AustiNuts, LUCK and other neat vendors. Local bands Crypt Trip, Rise and Shine and national act RISHLOO will perform on Friday, while locals The Van Sanchez, Dead Flowers, and craft beer heroes Shotgun Friday perform on Saturday. Music and food trucks can be found in the Lakewood Brewing outdoor food and music pavilion.
As always, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit local charity, the North Texas Food Bank. Nellie noted, “while everyone is gathering info about craft beer, they should know they’re also helping feed hungry north Texans. My other favorite aspect of this event is that we can do some good, while everyone has a great time.”
Tickets for the festival are on sale now at http://www.bigtexasbeerfest.com. Saturday’s VIP tickets have been sold out for months, but everything else is available. General admission tickets are $39 and VIP can be had for $65. VIP tickets enable attendees to gain entrance to the event one hour early to enjoy all the rare and unique beers with minimal lines.
The festival’s hours are Friday, April 1from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, and Saturday from 2:00-6:30pm. Each VIP session is set to begin 1 hour prior to the times noted above. Parking will be available at Fair Park for $10, but the Montgomery’s recommend people use the DART rail, or use their transportation partner Uber. The DART rail has a stop on the Green Line at Fair Park, dropping attendees just steps away from the venue.
