Good bye summer, good bye Blues on The Green

AUSTIN, TX – Summer is almost over and to give it a nice farewell event we had the pleasure to attend the closing concert of the 25th season of Blues on the Green, hosted by Austin radio station KGSR.
Typical summer Texas temperatures above 95, were no excuse to stay home and not go out to Zilker Park and enjoy one of Austin’s summer traditions. All you needed to bring was a cooler filled with beer, food and snacks. If you wanted to get a little more comfortable and fancy, a blanket, a lawn chair and an umbrella would do the job. Then it was all about enjoying the good music, the company of your friends or family, and the great vibes of the thousands of people surrounding you.
Being a free event, it gathered people from all ages, dogs from all type of breeds, jugglers, frisbee players and even a dinosaur that we didn’t have a chance to photograph but we later heard was walking around the people.
Even though it’s quite an experience to walk around observing and enjoying the little scenes occurring between each group of people, the main reason to come down to the park is to listen to great free live music. This year, Blues on the Green offered 4 shows:
- Immie Vaughan and the Tilt-a-whirl band with a special guests
- Bob Schneider with Walker Lukens
- Jamestown Revival with Kaleo
- Shakey Graves with Riders Against The Storm
Unfortunately we couldn’t attend all 4 shows, so we are only going to share with you pictures of the first and last. Hopefully it will bring you back good memories if you were there, or motivate you to attend next year! Good bye summer, good bye Blues on The Green.
