Home Free visits Texas at the Majestic Theater -

DALLAS – Home Free is an American acapella group consisting of five vocalists. Back in 2000, when most of the group was in their teens, they started as a ‘show group’ and toured over 200 shows a year until they gained until they gained enough popularity to pursue their passion full time. In 2013, the group competed and won on the fourth season of The Sing Off earning them a $100,000 and a recording contract.

Today, brothers Chris and Adam Rupp, Austin Brown, Rob Lundquist and Tim Foust are touring making their way around the US. With their recent digital release of Crazy Life in January and CD release in February 2014, their fan base has grown exponentially by proof of sold out shows across the nation. “Crazy Life” features covers of hits by country stars such as Hunter Hayes, Keith Urban and Josh Turner as well as reworking of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” that the group performed on The Sing Off.

All of the men have professionally trained or performed with another act at some point in their careers. To say winning The Sing Off is an amazing blessing for all is an understatement. The group (with various members) auditioned for the popular reality show four times before making it through. Once they found their niche with a country twist, they were set. You will find the group decked out in cowboy boots, plaid shirts and big belt buckles to fit their new persona.

The Majestic Theater is an elegant yet intimate enough a setting for an entertaining evening. The performance isn’t just about the vocal skill. It’s just as much about the ‘act’ and shenanigans between all of the members. The first set included “Wagon Wheel”, “All About That Bass”, “Mom” and a real crowd pleaser with a “Butt Medley”. After intermission, they slowed the pace a bit and settled in for the rest of the show with “Honey I’m Good”, “Thinking Out Loud”, “Jump In” and “Joy”.
