PRINCE DIES AT THE AGE OF 57

DALLAS, TX (April 21, 2016) – According to the New York Times, Prince’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, confirmed the legendary singer, songwriter, performer, died today at his Paisley Park home in Minnesota.

Born as Prince Rogers Nelson in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Prince was known as the pioneer of the ‘Minneapolis sound’.  This was a hybrid mixture of funk, rock, pop, synthpop and new wave that became popular in the late 1970’s.  Prince went on to combine rock, R&B, soul, funk,  hip hop, disco, psychedelia, jazz and pop into his music.  He released his debut album in 1978 only to skyrocket to stardom from there.

Prince’s career was prolific spanning over forty years and produced some of the most amazing music as well as some very controversial situations.  He sold over 100 million records entitling him as one of the best selling artists of all time.  He also seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, an Academy Award and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
