Solice, Gas Monkey Bar and Grill, Dallas

DALLAS -One of Dallas Metal Scene’s leading bands, Solice, performed before a lively and eclectic crowd at the Gas Monkey Bar and Grill on a bitterly cold February night and I had the pleasure of attending.

Deep, thought provoking lyrics and hauntingly transcendent amalgams of music echoed through packed house. This was Solice’s first show at this venue, but you wouldn’t have known from their performance. Solice owned the joint that night.

Playing songs from their current self-titled LP, Solice produced a solid, crowd-pleasing set. The acoustics of Gas Monkey’s tented patio surprisingly complimented the band’s unique sound; characterized by the band themselves, as a mix of Hard Rock, Alternative and Heavy Metal.2345

I had a chance to sit down with this amazing band after their set.  Formed in 2011 in Arlington, TX, Solice is comprised of lead vocalist/lyricist/keyboardist Xtina Lee, Ryan Matthews on drums, Juan Brittos on guitar and vocals and Rob Pummill on bass. When asked about the writing process, the band stated that songs are a collaborative effort, shared equally amongst all members. The members of the band consider each other family, and have obviously bonded as such. The close personal relationship with one another shines through beautifully on stage and has had a direct effect on Soilce’s music.

Drawing from influences such as Tool, Chains, Evanescence and As I lay Dying, the band has skillfully crafted their own sound. With a repertoire of songs full of artfully composed guitar riffs from hell and subjugated by the eerily metaphysical lyrics from front woman Xtina Lee, Solice is one band not be missed. If you have a chance to see these kids live, drop everything and GO!

1956In their relatively short yet illustrious career, Solice has won multiple Battle-of-the Bands competitions, including Revolver Magazine’s Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock and the prestigious Ernie Ball contest. Their musical aptitude has also earned Solice a well-deserved place on the Curtain Club’s prestigious Wall of Fame.

The band is keeping busy: playing regional shows, filming a music video for their single Save Me, recording a new album, and gearing up for a summer tour in California.
