Seth Avett noted on the new single, “I think of ‘Ain’t No Man’ as a self-motivating anthem…a kind of currency to buy a little courage when you’re having trouble feeling courageous on your own.”

It’s a big week for the North Carolina Grammy Award®-nominated alternative folk collective. Not only did they unveil the first glimpse of their new music, but their current North American headline tour is well underway following their first show at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Boot called it “unforgettable,” recounting how “fans were left speechless,” while JamBase claimed, “THE AVETT BROTHERS hit the MSG stage like a tornado.”

Adding to their non-stop live shows THE AVETT BROTHERS have announced a handful of new tour dates throughout the summer including stops at the iconic Amphitheater at Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY and Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. Fan pre-sale goes on sale Tuesday, April 19th at noon local time.

In addition, THE AVETT BROTHERS announced they will be performing their single and new songs off of the album for the first time on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! on the famed Outdoor Stage in Hollywood on May 3rd. Be sure to tune in at 11:35/10:35c on ABC!

Last month, the band delivered an explosive run of performances at SXSW in Austin, getting critics buzzing about the new music in the process. Billboard has already pegged True Sadness as one of “2016’s Most Anticipated Rock Albums.

The group will be on the road throughout the Spring and Summer. Following Madison Square Garden, they’ll play the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on April 29 and host a three-night stand at Red Rocks in Morrison, CO 7/28-7/30. The full itinerary is included below.

Originally previewed in a heartfelt letter from Seth Avett, True Sadness reflects THE AVETT BROTHERS artistic, musical, and personal evolution over 16 years as a band.

During 2009, THE AVETT BROTHERS made mainstream waves with their lauded major label debut, I and Love and You. It landed at #16 on the Billboard Top 200 and garnered unanimous critical acclaim from Rolling StonePasteNew York TimesLos Angeles Times, and Time, who even dubbed it one of Top 10 albums of the year. 2012 saw The Carpenter hit #4 on the Billboard Top 200—their highest bow to date—while PeopleUSA Today, and American Songwriter lauded the album. The group graced the stage of Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! twice in merely a few months’ time. During the second performance, they invited the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra along to pay homage to Brooklyn with “I and Love and You” as personally requested by Mr. Kimmel. Their eighth studio album, Magpie and the Dandelion, went on to debut at #5 on the Billboard Top 200, while they performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Show with David Letterman as well as joining legendary Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell for a rapturous Pearl Jam tribute on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. 2015 saw them support The Rolling Stones for the first time at the Zip Code Tour in Raleigh.  A string of sold out shows followed as the boys continue to dream up their next step.
