The Nightowls Three Links Deep Ellum Dallas, Texas

DALLAS, TX – Austin Texas’ own ‘The Nightowls’ kicked off the Labor Day weekend playing to a full house at ‘Three Links Deep Elllum’ in downtown Dallas on Saturday night, and kick it off they did!
‘The Nightowls’ are raucous 9 members band playing a retro sound with soul and pop overtones with a laid back Austin vibe.
‘The Nightowls’ were in town in support of their newly released record ‘Royal Sessions’ a five track EP that was recorded at the renowned Royal Studios in Memphis Tennessee.
The Memphis influence was quite evident when the band opened the show with ‘Can’t Bring Me Down’ a funky single from the Royal Sessions record. The song is a catchy blend of Memphis and Motown with a touch of modern pop music.
Lead singer Ryan Harkrider expressive vocals blends nicely with the background vocals of Ellie Carroll and Tara Williamson and the impressive brass section. Ryan is quite accomplished at engaging the crowd. As the show progressed his infectious personality had the crowd up on their feet and dancing. ‘Get Up!’ the single from the Fame Sessions album had everyone doing just that.
‘The Nightowls’ are a tight band, which I’m sure, is not easy to accomplish with a 9-piece band. They enjoy playing together, and as corny as this might sound they are also happy band.
The band played a healthy dose of selections from their four albums with a bit of James Brown thrown in for good measure.
Harkrider and lead guitarist Amos Traystman formed the band in 2011, they were looking to create a classic soul, funk and Motown band. Which is exactly what they did.
The Nightowls are currently on a nationwide tour. However they will be back in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area playing the Levitt Pavilion in Arlington on September 30th.
