RICHARDSON, TX – The Wildflower Arts and Music Festival kicked off with quite a crowd and perfect weather on Friday, May 20, 2016. Between the food vendors, art and goods vendors and music – there was something for everyone to enjoy, no matter what age.
Walking from the parking garage into the festival, patrons could hear the sound of live music echoing off of the surrounding buildings, creating excitement and anticipation as the gates came closer into view. Upon entering the festival, you were greeted with friendly vendors, such as Ben and Jerry’s, giving away free ice cream and encouraging everybody to vote with their new ice cream flavor
The streets were lined with various foods, vendors selling their art, goods and handmade items, dance performances and the three stages were set far enough apart that there was no bother from one another. On the Wildflower stage, Unwritten Law played a great set, including hits Save Me from their and Up All Night. Hoobastank took the stage next and the crowd grew as more and more fans showed up. Hoobastank had everyone singing along to their hit, Running Away and had couples embracing as they played, The Reason.
Over at the State Farm sponsored stage, Survivor was getting ready to perform to a crowd that took up about a half mile in front of the stage. Families spread out on blankets and excited fans gathered in as close as possible. Current Survivor vocalist, 21 year old Cameron Barton belted out lyrics like he’s been singing for fifty years – exceptionally well and Frankie Sullivan’s energy was that of a 21 year old – playing the guitar and moving up and down the stage, even getting down from the stage for a few beats. With two more full days of the festival approaching, this is a great way for you to spend your weekend – no matter who you are!
