Toadies Heretics Out Today!

Toadies Heretics Out Today
Fall Headline Tour: Including Dates in Historic Texas Dance Halls

“We’re now a full 21 years since Toadies released “Possum Kingdom,” which remains one of the Best Alternative Rock Songs of 1994, but if you’ve missed out on 2012’s Play.Rock.Music, or any the rest of the music they’ve put out since the ’90s, now’s a good time to tune back in.” – SPIN

“But if you think going acoustic means going soft, you’ll have to think again– their commitment to creating works that surface from below remains strong.” – Elmore Magazine

“The album is overflowing with the dark Southern-gothic sound the band has been honing since its reunion in 2006.” – A.V. Club

“Toadies, the alt-rock vets out of Texas, are back with a new album and while only three of Heretics’ 12 tracks are technically new, one of those is particularly awesome, their take on Blondie’s 1978 heartbreak hit “Heart of Glass.”” – Entertaiment Weekly

“A very good gathering of songs; it’s nice to see The Toadies showing their range by balancing both the new tracks and the stripped-down remakes.  If you’re looking to get to to know The  Toadies, begin here.” – Popdose

“The sparse rendition is a far-cry for the band’s “Possum Kingdom” roots, but still captures the emotional intensity Lewis has been known for. His open acoustic guitar chords ring under his weathered voice, giving a sense of solemnity before the rest of the band kicks in. Blondie’s lyrics capture a new poignancy with the slowed down tempo.” – Consequence of Sound

“The Toadies unearthed emphasized melody and complexity to their sound that speaks well beyond nostalgia. The band isn’t trying to be the 1990s hey-day rendition of itself, instead showcasing a maturity likely to cultivate a new fanbase.” – Dallas Morning News

September 18th – Ft. Worth, TX:  Toadies new album Heretics is out today via Kirtland Records. The album is a stripped down collection of re-worked Toadies fan favorites as well as two new songs, an unreleased track and a cover of the Blondie classic ‘Heart of Glass’. The idea to do a deconstructed record was born at the band’s annual Dia De Los Toadies Festival, which just celebrated its eighth year in the band’s hometown of Ft. Worth. The first night of the festival traditionally sees the Toadies playing a ‘chill set’ which resonated with fans, the band taking their feedback and deciding to create a record to capture that vibe. Special guests features on Heretics include Sarah Jaffe, Willie Nelson’s harmonica player Mickey Raphael and Will Johnson from Centromatic appears on a bonus track ‘The Appeal.’
