DAYTON, IN – Nestled among small town America is a beautiful community with a rich history that includes the birth of one of the most beautiful minds of our time, Shannon Hoon. The legendary late lead singer of Blind Melon not only began his life in Dayton, Indiana, but was lain to rest right back there, in the midst of the place that tugged at his heart strings always showing him the way back home.

The time is quickly approaching to join family and friends in Dayton to celebrate the extraordinary life and music of Shannon Hoon as well as his spectacular brother, Tim Forkeotes, at this year’s Vigil and Vigilstock. This year is a very special year for the event as it is the last one that Nel Hoon, Shannon and Tim’s mother, will host and attend.

Vigil will be held in the Dayton Cemetery on Hwy 38 in Dayton, Indiana on Saturday, September 26th, the weekend of Shannon’s birthday. The Vigil is a sober event for all ages. Parking will be allowed on the gravel paths ONLY on the cemetery grounds. All visitors must plan to follow the Rules of the Cemetery, and show proper cooperation and respect for the environment.

The 13th Annual Vigilstock tribute show will be the following evening on Sunday, September 27, at the Knickerbocker Saloon in Lafayette, Indiana. This year boasts many very talented and incredible musicians including Just Dave, Jamie Shields, MoeDell, Annie Meyer, Bobby Herrold, Canyon Collected, and Mr Uppercut. If that’s not enough Travis T. Warren and Christopher Thorn will finish the evening and celebration off with an intimate Blind Melon acoustic set that is sure to be a phenomenal and not to miss performance. The cost will be $10 at the door. Doors open at 4:00pm, show starts at 5:00 pm. Vigilstock is a 21 and over only event.
