WHO OR WHAT IS JOHNNYSWIM?

Dallas TX – According to JOHNNYSWIM’S web site, JOHNNYSWIM is a husband-and-wife duo of Abner Ramirez and Amanda Sudano. The pair met in Nashville in 2005 instituting a songwriting partnership not long afterward.”
Ramirez trained as a musician at the Douglas Anderson School of Arts in his native Jacksonville, FL, and Sudano spent summers touring the world as a backup singer for her mother Donna Summers….correct that Donnas Summers!
The duo played to a full house at the Dallas House of Blues on Monday, February 22nd. There are many reasons why this group played to a full house, and all were made quite obvious from the opening number of the show. First and foremost, Amanda Sudano and Abner Ramirez are excellent musicians. The vocal range that each possess be it during large expressive songs that the audience cannot resist in joining in or transforming the audience with complete silence and awe. When the couple combines forces the results are magical. They generated so much emotion from the crowd that they had everyone wrapped around their fingers from the first note.
Sudano and Ramirez are natural entertainers. They involved audience with extended conversation between almost after every song, giving the crowd personal stories while engaging in husband-wife banter. It was quite obvious that they are very much in love, and they are having the time of their lives. This is what makes them work. They are genuine and come from a very good place.

JOHNNYSWIM played through the majority of the cuts from their highly acclaimed Diamonds album. They punctuated the set by venturing out into the middle of the crowd amongst a sea of cell phones to sing the final few refrains of Home. It was defiantly a moment that everyone will not soon forget. After making their way back to the stage the duo closed the show with a spirited rendition of Heart Beat before sending everyone….Home.
