This weekend’s half-hour World of X Games show will focus on Danny Hampson, one of the few athletes to come back from a life-threatening injury to reclaim his position at the top of his sport –wakeskating. A prodigy from a small town in the remote Florida Keys, Hampson quickly gained the attention the professional wakeskating community, securing various sponsorship deals and wakeskate video parts before the age of 16.

On the fast track to success as a teenager, the fame and fortune for the young phenom prove to be too much and become distractions.  A near-fatal boating accident instantly turns Hampson’s career upside down but through the sheer will, determination and support from family and friends, is able to climb back up  become one of the most successful and influential wakeskaters in the sport.
