Summer X-Games 2016

2016 SUMMER X-GAMES AUSTIN

AUSTIN, TX – 2016 was the last year of X-Games in Austin. It will surely be missed!  Whether it was politics or the weather causing this decision, the Austin fans were very saddened by the departure of this great event.  Though many called 2016 X Games a toned down version it was not without its intense action.

Summer X- Games is a 4 day Marathon of extreme sports by the world’s best athletes in their class. Events are broken down by what you ride and how you ride it.  Street, Park, Dirt, Ramp, Vert and Big Air are the categories. Whatever your specialty,  you are going have to bring it for the competition. Fearlessly, these competitors put their bodies though extreme rigors of jumps, spins, and corks; rom 11 to 48+ it’s certainly not how old you are but how hard you bring it.

As rain seems to plague most events at Circuit of Americas as of late, the X- Games were no exception.  Every day approaching, the forecast got worse and worse.  Luckily it was scattered and in between torrential downfalls, the sun broke through allowing the courses to be dried and events to start.  That also created dramatic backdrops from puffy to thunderheads as the events took place.  One thing that cannot be controlled is the weather.

Aside from the world-class competition, the weather allowed for some outstanding musical performances on Saturday night. Blink 182 and All time low rocked the stage as thousands of energetic fans sang along. Both bands played their well known hits under the lights of the 360 Amphitheater.
