US Moto Grand Prix 2017 recap in Austin, TX

Austin, TX – The US Moto Grand Prix was in town this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX. For the third year in a row, the warriors on 2 wheels were set to compete on one of the newest venues on the MotoGP calendar.  The big question on all of our minds was, can anyone stop Marc Marquez’s complete domination here in Texas. You see, here in the Lone Star State, since the MotoGP has taken place, there has been only one winner; you guessed it, number 93, Marc Marquez.

The stage was set for him to defend his crown in the Lone Star State. After an unfortunate crash in Termas de Rio Hondo, Argentina Marc would bring his A game to the Circuit of the Americas. Without a doubt, he would intense competition from the Ducati Team and the Movistar Yamaha teams, just to name a few.

Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati team), the five-time World Champion, arrived at the Circuit of the Americas looking for a turnaround after a difficult first two races in Qatar and Argentina. Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha) was also looking for a win on this world class track. This was Rossi’s third-straight podium, and the nine-time World Champion led the points race until this point. Tenacious newcomer Maverick Vinales (Movistar Yamaha) came to play clocking some outstanding practice and qualifying times as well as victories during both opening rounds this season in Qatar and Argentina.  It was time for Marc and teammate Dani Pedrosa to get to work.

Austin has been described as one of the best tracks in the world by motorcycle and car racers from around the world. The Hermann Tilke-designed 5.513km ‘Circuit of The Americas’ joined the MotoGP™ calendar and become an instant hit with its exciting turns, fast straightaways  and its cutting edge facilities. When you combine an excellent track, good weather and hungry riders, you have the recipe for seeing some amazing world class motorcycle racing

At the beginning of the race, it was Marquez and his teammate Dani Pedrosa that led the pack. Valentino Rossy and his old teammate Jorge Lorenzo pursued closely. Shortly after, Vinales quickly approached into the 4th spot. The exciting 68.6 mile race on a pristine technical track with a seemingly countless number of sharp direction changes and long straights aways had us at the edge of our seats for the entire duration of the Grand Prix. In the end, the one and only Marc Marquez endured over Rossi and his teammate Pedrosa in an amazing display of skill and precision.
