BMX Racing – The sport a family can do.

Houston, TX (October 26 , 2019)  BMX is back and it is growing into the Rockstar sport you want to be in.   When we were invited to the BMX Lone-Star Nationals I had no idea the  resurgence the sport has had.  For a lot of my generation we over look BMX as a past time sport of elite riders. We just raced our friends up and down the block.  It was a everyday thing and not thought of like soccer, gymnastics or swimming.   Times have progressed though and one thing that differs this from those sports is availability and age limitation.  Over 300 BMX tracks dot the country, with age classes that start 5 an under and go up 61 and over separated by user skill.  It’s truly sport an entire family can participate in.

Arriving at $25 million Rockstar Energy Bike Park can be a shock to the system if you have been away from biking.  Unlike most local parks you see popping up around the US its designed for every experience level with bowls, street and dirt courses. A full BMX learning school also is onsite.  One thing you won’t see is Skater.  This is a BMX only park.  Next to the Bike complex is North Houston Skate Park, the largest skate park in North America, featuring over 78,000 square feet of skateable surface, and Dylan Park, a park designed for children of varying abilities.

The park is to be the Host of the 2020 UCI BMX World Championships which will take place May 26-May 31, 2020.   Expecting to bring 3000 amateurs and 300 professionals from 40 countries as it’s the last stop before the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
